Google – Too Much Power?

Jermey at Ensight made a comment the other day:

I think I’m pussy footing around this, because it is Google - a company everyone wants to think well about, in spite of evidence to the contrary. Ah well, I’ll pussyfoot when I want to - apparently whether I like it or not.

The funny thing is my former professor mentioned the same thing. Well, sort of. We were talking about the desktop search and how Google has the right ( in the agreement at least) to use any information they find on your machine. All of a sudden every bit on your computer is public information.

As Google expands into more information related ventures (the latest is maps.google.com) and they gain footholds in these areas it could become a scary thing. When some thing or someone has too power bad things start to happen.
