Half joking I said “Why don’t you replace the one in your iMac” he bewilderly looked at me and said “Can that be done?” I said “I don’t know, look it up on Google.” With in a few minutes we came across a tutorial on how to upgrade your drives in your iMac. I have no idea if it will work, but my friend ordered a 16 speed dual Layer DVD drive to replace his internal DVD drive… so hopefully it will.
